The Maha Bamboo Board is an organization responsible for the promotion of bamboo within the state of Maharashtra. Given the circumstances, bamboo is seen as a 'green' product, both healthy for the environment and as a versatile material.

To promote a mainstream use of bamboo, the Board organized a competition to design a park as a 'bamboo' park, where the characteristics of bamboo could be displayed and receive a larger audience.
